Is there any way you could accomplish the same thing you just accomplished in adobe except this time in Resolve?
Hi,
I'm not sure if it's possible, though you're at least the third person asking this today, I wasn't aware that Resolve got so popular!
Do you know of any Resolve plugin that implements this sort of thing (adding a new format for import / export), to look at as an example?
AFAIK Resolve doesn't have a public SDK for writing import / export plugins, at least I'm not aware of any.
I'd also love to add MagicYUV support to Resolve, but I'd need some help here.
No plugins that I know of.
Although they are pretty open when it comes to taking feedback and implementing it.
I wonder if they will add support if you present them with it.
You might want to tune into the following thread on the BM forums then: https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=98232
Hi,
There is now an open SDK for export plugin.
An example of what has been done

It would be great to have Magicyuv export option on Resolve.
@joet Thanks for the info, I'll definitely take a look. Do you know if the SDK also supports import?
From the release notes it looks like it is not possible to decode yet
Open plugin SDK toolkit for encoder developers.
Is it worthwhile to make an export-only plugin, so still no ability to import it back?
YES, IT IS !
This would support a common workflow where color correction, etc. is done in Resolve, then rendered clips are exported for editing and finishing in various NLE's.
Currently there is no practical way to export LOSSLESS rendered clips from Resolve that are easy to use in NLE's like Vegas, Premiere, AVID and Edius.
Any update on this?
@ignus There is already a new version of Davinci Resolve 18 which I suppose allow implementing the encode/decode SDK.
They have this feature highlighted in their PDF "DaVinci_Resolve_18_Supported_Codec_List.pdf"
Do you have any plans updating MagicYUV?
Davinci resolve is pretty neat for color grading correction and it's free.
It have been developped around color correction capability.
So yes it will be more and more popular since all video editing software going to the yearly subscription path.
I really think Lossless MagicYUV and Davinci resolve could be a awsome combo.
